Garment Care Guide

To keep our dresses beautiful for the next customer, please take extra care while wearing yours. We want you to feel amazing in your dress — and we also ask that you take care while wearing it. Please be mindful below, as damage may affect your bond or result in additional charges.

Please follow these guidelines to minimise as much damage as possible:

  • Hang up the dress as soon as you arrive home to minimise creasing
  • If you are using fake tan, apply at least 2 days before your event & wash off at least twice or three times before wearing your garment
  • Avoid wearing jewellery that is prone to snagging on fabric
  • Avoid using crossbody bags or straps with a chain to minimise excess rubbing and/or thread pulls on fabric

Customer Responsibility
It is the customer’s responsibility to inform us as soon as possible if any damage occurs during the hire period — before returning the garment via text message. This helps us assess repairs promptly and ensures a smoother return process. Please be open with us so we can support you effectively.

Things to Avoid
Please be extra cautious with anything that could leave a mark, including (but not limited to): red wine, brightly dyed drinks (like Vodka Cruisers), ink, oils, waterproof makeup, wet fake tan, grass, mud etc.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN YOUR GARMENT IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS.

If something is spilled on your dress, please contact us immediately & let us know what was spilled; this info helps us best advise our cleaners for the correct cleaning treatment.

Long Dresses / Dresses with Trains
If your dress touches the ground, always pick up your dress while walking to avoid as much damage as possible.

Watch out for people stepping on your hem (especially in heels), dragging the dress across outdoor or rough surfaces (like concrete, bitumen, or grass stains), or catching it on furniture (e.g., chair legs). Block heels are often a safer option than stilettos.

Material - Pulling & Damage
Please be careful with rough handbags (and straps eg chain straps) or clutches, corsages, long nails, catchy jewellery, or leaning against abrasive surfaces like brick walls. Mesh and delicate fabrics are especially vulnerable.

Please see our Damage Policy for details.

Lash & Nail Glue, and Nail Polish
Please DO NO USE lash glue, nail glue, or super glue while wearing or handling your dress, as these adhesives are permanent and can cause irreversible damage. Also, avoid applying nail polish near the dress to prevent accidental stains or smudges.

Boob Tape, Glue & Alterations
We offer temporary alteration products to help your garment fit you best. Please only use the products we provide. Anything that's not provided by us please ensure we have pre-approved to use.
Safety pinning, altering, or gluing garments is strictly not permitted without approval from The Perfect Pfit.
